Are you ready to work on a product that is revolutionizing the legal industry? Look no further! LawVu is on the hunt for a Senior Data Engineer with QA Automation expertise to architect and implement comprehensive testing strategies across our data ecosystem.

Our Data & Analytics team plays a key role in helping legal teams make informed decisions with robust reporting, analytics, and data visualization. As we expand our data infrastructure, we’re investing heavily in automation and quality assurance to ensure robust and accurate data delivery to our users. This role offers a unique opportunity to shape our data testing frameworks, working with modern cloud technologies and implementing best practices that will directly impact decision-making for legal teams worldwide.

What you’ll do…

  • Be Awesome: Seriously, just be your awesome self.
  • Data Pipeline Testing: Design and implement automated tests for ETL processes, data transformations, and data integration pipelines
  • Champion Data Quality: Advocate for data testing best practices, ensuring that our data systems are robust, reliable, and accurate to meet the highest standards of data integrity.
  • Test Automation Architecture: Design scalable, maintainable test automation frameworks for data platforms systems
  • Analytics Quality Assurance: Develop tests to validate dashboard visualizations, metrics calculations, and report generation
  • Performance Testing: Create tests for query performance, data load times, and system scalability
  • CI/CD Integration: Implement automated testing within our CI/CD pipelines for continuous data quality validation
  • Collaborate: Work closely with data engineers, analytics engineers and the wider product engineering team to understand data workflows, test scenarios, and develop automated tests that validate both the structure and the integrity of data.
  • Review: Participate in peer reviews of pull requests and code changes, focusing on testing strategies, data quality, and the overall reliability of data systems.
  • Mentor Extraordinaire: Help guide junior team members, actively participate in planning, automation prioritization, daily stand-ups, demos, and retrospectives.
  • Elevate: Share knowledge, promote best practices, and help grow the expertise of your peers in the realms of automated data testing, analytics validation, and quality assurance
  • Inspire: Inspire confidence in QA activities and lead change and improvements.

Must-have Skills: 

  • Data Testing Expertise (5+ years):
    • Automated validation of ETL processes and data transformations
    • Experience with data comparison and validation techniques and query performance testing
    • Proficiency in testing end-to-end data pipeline architectures
  • Programming & Automation (4+ years):
    • Strong SQL and Python experience
    • Experience with testing frameworks like PyTest, Playwright, or BDD frameworks
    • Knowledge of database testing techniques
  • Data Platforms & Tools:
    • Experience with cloud platforms (Azure preferred)
    • Experience testing cloud data platforms (Databricks preferred)
    • Familiarity with data visualization tools (Power BI preferred)
  • Source Control & CI/CD:
    • Git proficiency
    • Experience with automated testing in CI/CD environments
  • Delivery and Communication:
    • Be a self-starter, have a positive, resilient, can-do attitude, and embrace challenges
    • Experience working in an Agile project delivery environment and frequent releases
    • Excellent communication skills, both written and oral

Nice-to-have Skills:

  • Experience in Azure DevOps or GitHub Actions (pipeline development)
  • Azure Infra-as-Code experience (ARM, bicep)
  • Experience in the legal sector
  • Recognised test certification is valued (e.g. ISEB, ISTQB)
  • Experience in software testing (web API and UI)
